GESEA Imaging Diploma in Imaging for Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgeons

What is GESEA Imaging?

Structured diploma programme for ultrasound for endoscopic surgeons

Building on the success of the GESEA programme, the European Academy of Gynaecological Surgery and the ESGE have launched GESEA Imaging, the Diploma in Imaging for Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgeons (formerly DIGESTT).

The diploma curriculum fulfils the ultrasound practice requirements of endoscopic surgeons. It is based on the current best scientific knowledge and is accessible to everyone. The programme aims to standardise imaging training for gynaecologists and to accelerate knowledge and skill acquisition for endoscopic surgery trainees.

Imaging has become an integral part of gynaecological practice. Gynaecologists performing endoscopic surgery should be competent to perform abdominal and trans-vaginal sonography to establish accurate diagnosis for normal and abnormal, benign and malignant conditions. They should also have knowledge to read the CT and MRI scans of the abdomen and pelvis. The  programme aims to provide the necessary knowledge and practical skills to become a gynaecological ultrasound practitioner.

Getting started with the GESEA Imaging programme

Your ticket to becoming an gynaecological ultrasound practitioner

GESEA Imaging offers a pathway of acquiring the Gynaecological Ultrasound Practitioner diploma. It is based on three building blocks: knowledge, practical skills, and assessment.

Knowledge is offered free of charge through the Academy E-Learning Platform. Practical skills are trained through GESEA Imaging as organised by The Academy. Assessment of knowledge and practical skills happens through an official GESEA Imaging Certification.

STEP 1: Knowledge

Knowledge is offered free of charge through the Academy E-Learning Platform. It is a structured e-learning programme consisting of online lectures, demonstrations and tips & tricks. At the end of each module a series of quizzes will help you with your theoretical training.

Register free of charge on the Academy E-Learning Platform and start with your theoretical tutorials!

STEP 2: Practical Skills

Practical skill training of ultrasound imaging for minimal invasive gynaecological surgeons happens during the organised GESEA Imaging courses.

STEP 3: Assessment

GESEA Imaging Certification is currently under development and will be made available at selected Diploma Centres.
